Finnish Sauna
This Finnish wood-line sauna is warm
and dry, with a temperature between 80-100°C. The body heats up quickly, which
induces perspiration and opens up the pores. It cleanses the body of impurities
and is thought to enhance the body's immune defences as well as relieving
stress.
How to get the best results
First, take a shower and towel yourself
dry. Ideally start by relaxing your feet in the reflexology footbaths so that
you begin a gradual warming process from the feet upwards.
The seating in the sauna is on three levels, and
the higher you go, the hotter it is. Decide for yourself whether you want to
build up to the high temperatures and whether you want to lie down or is
upright.
The wooden bucket fills with water when the
chain is pulled. Sprinkle two ladles of water on the coals when you want to give
a short boost to the temperature and humidity.
Between 8-12 minutes is the recommended time for staying in the cabin. For
maximum effect, use the sauna in combination with the Ice Room or the cold
experience showers.
Please refer to the safety guidelines at the Spa Entrance or the Aqua Sana
Reception before trying this or any of the experiences.
Mediterran Sauna
Same as Finnish Sauna but in a
Mediterranean style.
Reflexology Basin
Soak your feet in the warm, bubbling
water and enjoy a new relaxing experience. The bubbling in the warm reflexology basin has
not only a very relaxing effect but also refreshes and vitalises. Warm air and water in the reflexology basin
regulate the circulation and increase the immune system. The physical relaxation
has also a very positive influence on the state of mind.
For your most hygienical convenience there is an
individual basin with fresh water for every guest.
Ice
Fountain/Ice Grotto
Ideal Contrast to heat treatments
(sauna, steam bath).
The crushed ice stimulates the circulation and boots the lymphatic and immune
systems. The continuously falling ice and the refrigeration give you a powerful
and uplifting feeling, which is why ice fountains are used in medical Spas to
treat anxiety, stress and depression.
How to get the best results
Take handfuls of ice flakes from the Ice Fountain and rub them vigorously all
over the body, which contracts the pores of the skin rapidly, forcing out
impurities.
Circular Kneipp walk
Water is the essence of life and the
oldest remedy used by mankind.
The Kneipp walk is named after German naturopath
and hydro therapist Sebastian Kneipp.
The "Kneipp" walk combines the stimulating interaction of warm and cold water.
Walk
slowly through the basins and feel the vitalising effect. The alternating baths
of cold and
warm water are stimulating for circulation and metabolism and even soothe pain.
Relaxation area with Tepidarium and Heated recliners
This room is quite warm since the
recliners are heated. In this room you can stay quite a long time and relax. The
heated recliners warm up your body which is ideal before massage treatments or
also before or between the other heat experiences.
(The Romans used to start with such a low heat area when visiting the thermal
facilities.)

The body jets are particularly stimulating, and
excellent against poor circulation.

A classic head shower. Feel the water all over your body as it drenches you in
soothing, warm water.
Laconium
This is a very gentle heat bath to
purify and detoxify the body. The cabin temperature is mild (around 65°C) and
the humidity very low (between 15-20%). It produces a dry, relaxing environment
that was a favourite with the Roman Patricians. This makes it an ideal starting
point for the whole spa experience
How to get the best results
The body heats up slowly and gently and you'll start to perspire after about 15
minutes.
When you feel hot, direct the cold-water "Kneipp" hose all over your body,
starting with the extremities and always working towards the heart. Your skin
will tingle and feel refreshed.
Ideally, spend between 15-20 minutes in the
Laconium. Take a mild shower before your next experience. Make sure your drink
several cups of water to keep the body hydrated
Aqua Meditation
Find to yourself in this oasis of
total relaxation and feel how of body and soul become one. Water drops which
fall from the ceiling cause a constant moving of the water surface in the basin,
this is reflected to the walls and ceiling creating a very peaceful atmosphere.
Your personal meditation is assisted by the refreshing scent of lemons and
selected relaxing music.
